The project includes a load-bearing system made from laminated timber treated with creosote, as well as interior framing in all buildings. All elements were custom-dimensioned and delivered ready for assembly, based on highly detailed drawings. Café furniture, including tables and stools, was crafted from hand-selected alder and factory-finished with an Osmo surface treatment. The world-renowned Swiss architect Peter Zumthor designed the site, which includes parking and service buildings with a café and restrooms along the main road, as well as structures within the gorge to interpret and showcase the history of the mines.
